About
I'm Adrian Zgorzałek — a software engineer in London, currently cofounding radish.build.
Before that, twelve years at Meta on the unglamorous middle of the stack:
- A distributed secondary index over TAO, the graph store behind Facebook's social data
- Demand management for the social graph at ~6B QPS, bending compute usage from an exponential curve to a linear one through tools, automation and data science
- An adaptive layer for GraphQL that used ML to trade off app responsiveness against compute cost: prefetching, on-device caching, parameter tuning
- End-to-end privacy and compliance — retrofitting Meta's existing infrastructure to be privacy-aware: schematizing 100M+ data columns across 100+ systems, mandatory privacy-aware data-access APIs, lineage via static analysis + LLMs, and tooling for the three groups who have to live with it (engineers, privacy managers, compliance teams)
I'm drawn to systems that have to keep working when nobody's watching: graph stores, type systems, build tools — the layer where correctness is measured in years rather than sprints.
